110th Griz-Cat Game

Today is the 110th meeting between the Montana Grizzlies and the Montana State Bobcats. Montana needs a win to make the NCAA FCS playoffs. If the Bobcats win, they will clinch the Big Sky conference championship. But all that fades, because it's the GRIZ-CAT GAME!!! The Grizzlies lead the "Brawl of the Wild" series 69-35-5.

Here's some quotes from this week's Missoulian by a couple of former Griz players, who now play for my Atlanta Falcons:

Kroy Biermann, Former Griz, defensive end, Atlanta Falcons: I remember the excitement of that week leading up to the game and then obviously the excitement of the game. The whole state of Montana is watching. It's a huge game and it was just fun to be part of. Our stadium gets so packed when it's in Missoula. It's just so loud and the energy ... it's indescribable playing on that field.

Shann Schillinger, Former Griz, Atlanta Falcons safety: Last year, being a senior, having a chance to go undefeated in the regular season and going down there and winning in Bozeman was remarkable. The way we did it. It's something I'll never forget to be able to sing the fight song on their field was a very special moment for all of us seniors.
GO GRIZ!

(Yes, I'm at the game.)

Update: The record is now 69-36-5 as the Griz fall to the Cats 16-21. It's been that kind of season...

Busy! Busy! Busy!

As you've no doubt noticed, I've not done much blogging this week... or last week, either, for that matter. Anyway, I've been busy. It happens. There's no Nut Cache again this week. In fact, I don't have a recipe ready for tomorrow's blog, so there will be no The Squirrel Can Cook this week. (I'm cooking a great hashbrown casserole for my hosts in Oregon... I'll blog that recipe sometime soon!)(Especially if they like it...)

Today, I'm driving to Newberg, OR, to meet up with some friends, hang out all day Friday, and then go watch James White debate Robert Sungenis on the topic of purgatory at the Believer's Reason Conference 2010. Then it's into the car right as the debate ends, drive all night to get to home, nap a few hours, and then drive to Missoula to watch my Montana Grizzlies play Northern Arizona University on Saturday.

I hope to return to a more normal bloggy schedule next week.

Tis The Season...

After Friday night, win or lose, Griz season will be over. Until then, I really am having a hard time thinking about anything else! So, while you're waiting for NCAA FCS (I-AA) Championship game Friday night, enjoy the last 4 minutes of last Saturday's win against the Appalachian State University Mountaineers!

So, Go Griz! Beat the Wildcats!

Griz/Cat Hit of the Week

Sure, most of the time, the Hit of the Week goes to a defensive back, or maybe a defensive lineman. How often does a running back get included in the Hit of the Week? Well, when he isn't the victim, anyway...

Check out the hit that TBF lays on a Bobcat in this little video! (It's the 5th & last hit on the video)

My Other Religion...

Montana Grizzly Football begins Saturday! I've got season tickets! That's the good news. The bad news is that I work Saturdays :o(

Yes, the game will be on the radio in the taxi, you can bet on that!

I have worked it out so that I can go to homecoming in October, and the final home game in November. I've also got lots of friends vying for my seat for the other home games...

So, Go, Griz!

UPDATE
Final Score:
Montana Grizzlies: 38
Western State Mountaineers: 0
